Coffee consumption is associated with protection from several chronic diseases. Coffee's beneficial effects may stem from its ability to induce autophagy; however, other evidence points to the benefits of caffeine, which can reset the body's internal clocks in the morning. But caffeine can also reduce sleep quality, fueling a vicious cycle of poor sleep, daytime grogginess, and increased caffeine consumption. This episode of the Aliquot features Drs. Guido Kroemer, Satchin Panda, Matthew Walker, Elissa Epel, and Rhonda Patrick (in an interview with Mike Maser).
