COVID-19 can cause a wide range of symptoms, varying from mild cold-like symptoms to severe life-threatening respiratory distress. While all children are susceptible to COVID-19, the vast majority have mild symptoms, and fewer than 1 percent of cases progress to severe disease. Compared to children, however, infants are more vulnerable to COVID-19. Early case studies show that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is not transmitted to infants during pregnancy or through breast milk.
